I had high hopes for the Full Moon chart for Sept, 10. (Click here to see the article and the chart.) I felt that the placement of Venus on the Ascendant indicated a lunation period relatively free of drama and, for the most part, this seems to have been the case. For one thing, even though President Biden might have been having a “senior moment” when he announced that the COVID 19 pandemic is over, polls indicate that most Americans are thinking along the same lines, even if health care experts aren’t.
Inflation continues to be a concern and the stock market is down but that was somewhat offset by good news coming out of Ukraine. It’s nice to have an ally who uses the billions they get from American coffers to actually win battles. I had predicted something coming out of the Ninth House, which rules courts and the justice system, that would make everyone happy. We sort of got that with a couple announcements that put increased pressure on former President Trump. Admitted, only about half of Americans are happy about this but the other half are following the example of their leader and mostly ignoring it all,
The New Moon chart for Sept. 25 (click on New Moon to see the horoscope) also contains some hopeful indicators. However, it is different from the Sept. 10 chart in one significant and worrisome way. Instead of lovely Venus riding an angle and dominating the horoscope, this chart has belligerent Mars powerfully placed.
For much of 2021 we dealt with the transiting square of Saturn to Uranus and the loud, unruly argument it produced between authoritarian Saturn and contrarian Uranus. I’m not sure if anyone has been calling for an encore of that rage and divisiveness and, but that’s what we’ll be getting during the next few weeks as these two planets once more move within a degree of a 90 degree aspect. This may be the last gasp of this significant transit but it seems likely that it will go out with a roar rather than a whimper.
I’ve written about this transit previously (click here to see a previous article) and stressed its relationship with the continuing complaints we hear from Donald Trump and his minions that the 2020 election was stolen. It makes no difference that there is no credible evidence that such a thing happened. That’s the Saturn experts talking and Uranus doesn’t want to hear any of it. For Uranus the louder people is positions of authority voice one opinion, the more likely it is that the opposite is true.
It probably no accident that this aspect is flirting with completion (it will never be exact during this period) in the months leading up to the 2022 midterm election. A lot of the Republican candidates who will be on that ballot are people who have offered at least tactic support to Trump’s “Big Lie.” They’ve taken the contrarian route of Uranus to an extreme that challenges reality. The results of the election will reveal how many people are willing to follow them into this fantasy realm, whether because they agree or because they just find the contrarian viewpoint more entertaining.
Not being a football fan I was unaware the saga of Manti Te’o, the defensive back who was a star at Notre Dame and then went on to an solid career as a pro. However, I recently saw an episode of “Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn't Exist” on Netflix and wondered how astrology might fit into this story.
It is a strange story. While at Notre Dame, Te’o began a relationship with a young woman via Facebook. This young woman came from a similar ethnic background as Te’o (Samoan) and, like him, was devoted to her church. Also, the photograph Te’o saw on Facebook showed her to be a pretty and petite young woman with a dazzling smile. The relationship began with some innocent chatting and then gradually grew into a serious emotional connection. The only problem was that Te’o and this young woman never met in person.
The reason the couple never met in person, and the young woman’s phone never seemed to work when Te’o tried to facetime her, was because the young woman was actually a young man. This young man, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, had set up the fake Facebook page as a way of dealing with gender dysphoria. (The young man has since transitioned and is now called Naya Tuiasosopo) The fact that Manti Te’o, a highly disciplined athlete who, along with being a football star, had a 3.5 grade point average, was so totally taken in by this deception is the reason I wanted to look at this horoscope.
When my wife and I published “The Mars/Venus Affair” as a book back in 2000 we didn’t know how long it was going to be around. So, we didn’t extend the directory that tells you what your Mars and Venus signs are past the year 2000. We didn't think that there would be many one-year-olds seeking information about their love lives.
When we renamed the book “The Mars and Venus Playbook” and put it up on this website we did not correct this deficiency. However, I’m happy to announce that we’ve finally gotten around to extending that directory to 2025. Now people born between 2001 and 2025 do not have to have a horoscope done to determine their Mars and Venus signs. They can do it by following the instructions provided in “The Mars and Venus Playbook.”
