The chart for the Apr. 30 New Moon, with Jupiter on the angle, seemed to promise us something to cheer about and, for the minority of Americans who feel that abortion should be outlawed, that was the case. For everyone else, it was the conjunction of the Sun and Moon with disruptive Uranus that called the tune. (Click here to see the article and the chart.) The leak of Justice Alito’s draft opinion indicating that the Supreme Court was set to overturn Roe vs. Wade gave us both a Jupiterian effusion of idealism and an Uranian shock.
When I saw Venus conjunct Jupiter on Descendant of the New Moon chart for April 30 I thought of Jupiter as the Great Benefic, doling out goodies. Instead we got Jupiter, natural ruler of the Ninth House of courts and legal proceedings. Since Jupiter was conjunct Venus, that legal action involved women. The fact that Mercury, the ruler of the chart, was in the Ninth House reaffirmed this connection with the courts.
Of course, the Sun and Moon in that New Moon chart were not in an angular house. Therefore, the leak of the draft opinion has not resulted in any concrete changes. It’s just raised a lot of questions and stirred up a lot of anger and outrage. (Again, Sun and Moon conjunct Uranus.) The answers to those questions will have to wait at least until this summer, when the court is scheduled to issue a ruling, and then until the mid-term elections in November.
I have to admit that Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, the renewed threat of a nuclear war and all the other madness going on in the world right now has killed my appetite for celebrity gossip. For that reason I haven’t paid much attention to the court battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. However, since the situation in this country and the world is unlikely to get better anytime soon, maybe a celebrity diversion is in order.
The first thing I did was look at a double chart with Depp’s in the middle and a partial chart (without a time of birth) for Heard’s on the outside. (Click here to see that double chart.) The connection between these chart are multiple. Heard’s Sun in Taurus is conjunct Depp’s Midheaven and her Venus in Taurus conjunct both Depp’s natal Venus and his Mercury. However, the most telling connection is the conjunction of Heard’s Mars with Depp’s Moon.
Strong connections involving Mars can be both good and bad for a romantic relationships. They provide passion, sexual and otherwise, and they can keep a relationship from become staid or boring. On the other hand, if your Mars is aspecting a personal planet of another person's chart or their Mars is aspecting one of your personal planets, at some point, that person is going to piss you off royally. The question is always going to be, is the passion sufficient to override the anger and conflict?
Later this week I will be interviewed the people at “Discover Your Spiritual Gifts.” Vialet Rayne and Dave the Mystic will be doing the interview and it will be broadcast on BlogTalkRadio. The interview is scheduled for May 4 but I'm told that it won't be available to the public until June 3. You can access it at" https://discoveryourspiritualgifts.com/videos/dysg-podcast-2022
I’m looking forward to this interview because it will give me a chance to step away from the event oriented, mundane astrology that I write about so often on these pages and focus on a more spiritual approach to this ancient study. In the interview I will talking about my latest book, “The Lunar Nodes” and how the lunar nodes (or nodes of the Moon) relate to issues like reincarnation and the relationship between our individual consciousness and the boarder consciousness that I feel pervades the universe. When we consider all the dire things happening both in this country and around the world, issues like these might seem superfluous. In the final analysis, however, there is nothing more important.

Following the Moon: Apr. 30, 2022
With the Moon in the Third House and the Sun in the Ninth I had thought that the Full Moon chart for Apr. 16 (click here to see the article and the chart) would bring us issues related to communication and legality. Also, since both were square Pluto, it seemed to me that whatever brought those issues to the foreground would involve a display of power.
On the communication’s front we have Elon Musk buying Twitter, placing one eccentric billionaire in charge of one of the world’s most powerful social media platforms. With the courts, we got a court in New York threatening to hold former president Donald Trump is contempt. Communication – Check, Legal issues – Check, Power – Check.
Also, in the Apr. 16 chart we had Mars on the Descendant, which I felt signaled conflict with another country. Of course, we already are in a conflict with Russia because of its invasion of Ukraine. That conflict took an ominous step up recently when Vladimir Putin raised the possibility of using nuclear weapons if the U.S. and Europe continued their giving military aid to Ukraine.
