Of course, we could talk about Congress falling on its face with regard to the federal budget, but that’s not nearly as interesting as talking about a pretty young Oscar winner tripping on her way to the podium.
I have to admit I didn’t foresee Jennifer Lawrence winning the Academy Award for best actress. (Click here to see my previous article.) I felt that the run of luck that she had been riding for some time now (with her secondary progressed Jupiter slowly moving across her natal Venus) was ending. In my defense, we do not have a time of birth of Jennifer Lawrence and I was working with a partial horoscope. Apparently, astrological factors that I couldn’t see with this incomplete chart were at work on Oscar night.
This week Pope Benedict XVI will become the first pope in modern history not to leave his office feet first. His voluntary retirement has shaken the Catholic world and may set an important precedent for the future. Let’s look at his horoscope to see what’s up.
The first thing we notice with this horoscope (click here to see the chart) is the presence of Jupiter almost directly on the Ascendant. Jupiter is the planet associated with institutional religion so it’s placement at such an important angle in the horoscope is not surprising. Also, Pope Benedict has his Sun in a Grand Trine with Neptune and the degree of his Midheaven. Neptune rules the spiritual side of religion, the Sun rules one’s essential identity and the Midheaven is important in our choice of career. This Pope’s vocation is clearly stamped on his horoscope. He is a man who identifies closely with the institution of the Church, but who is also profoundly spiritual.
This has been an interesting week. We started with Jodie Foster’s rather cryptic owning of her sexual orientation and then we had Lance Armstrong confessing to using performance enhancing drugs in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. Even Charlie Sheen was out on the interview circuit trying to explain his 2011 antics (while promoting his new sit com.)
We do not have a complete horoscope for Lance Armstrong, (Click hereto see a chart done for noon) but we can still see some of the astrological factors behind his confession. Transiting Saturn is moving close to a square to his natal Mars indicating that he feels himself under tremendous pressure. Mars often manifests in a physical way so health concerns may be involved. This aspect persists through Feb. and then comes back with a vengeance in October so we may be hearing more from Armstrong later in the year.
2012 was a great year for Lena Dunham. Her HBO show “Girls” became phenomenal hit and, with the second season just beginning, her name seems to be cropping up everywhere. It is always remarkable when someone is able to achieve this kind of success before their first Saturn Return so I decided see if a horoscope charted for noon on her birthday could show us what astrological factors are afoot. (Click here to see the noon horoscope.)
Last year, when her show was making its debut, Dunham’s secondary progressed Sun was square her natal Jupiter. I’ve talked about secondary progressions in other articles. Secondary progression advances the horoscope one day for every year lived. Through this technique we see the horoscope grow and change just as we humans grow and change. Of course, some of those changes are good and some are painful.
