Game of Signs: An Astrological Look at Game of Thrones
Part One
I’m a big fan of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy seriesA Song of Ice and Fire and I’ve looked forward to the third season of the television adaptation of those novels, Game of Thrones. I thought it might be fun to match some of the characters from this series with astrological signs. If you are not familiar with the books or the television series then proving my matches right or wrong might be an excellent reason to start watching and/or reading.
We’ll start with the character’s whose shocking death at the end of the first season set the tone for the entire series, Eddard “Ned” Stark.
In this series I am looking at the condition of the 7th House of marriage and partnership in the horoscopes of people famous for their relationship triumphs and tragedies. This time we’re going to consider Cher. (Click here to see the horoscope.)
Cher has Capricorn ruling her 7th House. According to long standing tradition in astrology, Capricorn ruling the 7th means a marriage to someone older. It can also indicate a marriage in which one party plays the parent to the other party’s child. Cher’s marriage to Sonny Bono was a classic example of this. He was not only eleven years older than her; he micro-managed her career from the very beginning.
The ruler of Capricorn, Saturn, is in the 1st House of Cher’s horoscope. This is not exactly the same thing that we saw with Bill Clinton, who had his 7th House ruler directly on his Ascendant, but it’s close. For much of her career Cher was not only tied to Sonny by marriage and business contracts, he was a part of her professional identity. During this period of her life, as far as public perception was concerned, there was no Cher without Sonny.
In this series I am looking at the condition of the 7th House of marriage and partnership in the horoscopes of people famous for their relationship triumphs and tragedies. This time we’re going to consider President Bill Clinton. (Click here to his horoscope.)
Like Britney Spears, who was the subject of my last article, Bill Clinton has Aries ruling his 7th House and, again like Britney Spears, he has shown a tendency to enter into relationships impulsively and then regret his choices. The big difference between Spears and Clinton in this regard is that for Clinton these relationships have been in addition to his marriage, which has remained surprising stable despite his peccadilloes.
In this series I am looking at the condition of the 7th House of marriage and partnership in the horoscopes of people famous for their relationship triumphs and tragedies. This time we’re going to consider Britney Spears.
Britney Spears has Aries on the cusp of her 7th House. (Click here to see the horoscope.) People with Aries ruling their 7th House are at somewhat of a disadvantage. For one thing, they tend to enter into relationship impulsively, with breathless passion and then, once the impulse has passed and the passion is spent, regret their choices. Another problem with Aries on the 7th is a tendency to turn the marriage into a competition, either by seeking “trophy” partners or by approaching the relationship itself as if it were a contest.
Britney Spears as certainly been guilty of haste in her relationships. Her first marriage to a member of her entourage was a lark the she has annulled a few days later. Her second marriage to Kevin Federline also turned out to be another false start. Learning from these experiences, Spears took a little more time with her next important relationship. Her engagement to Jason Trawick lasted over a year before she abandoned plans to marry him.
