A fun spin on serious cosmic stuff! Wendell C. Perry has 40 years experience studying astrology and how it impacts personalities & relationships. He's written two books & published articles in astrology magazines. He's happy to share this website so that you, too, can have fun with astrology to help you in everyday life!
I recently came across a complete horoscope for Katy Perry based on a birth time given in a biography. (Click here to see the reference in AstroDataBase and the chart.) The chart has one particularly interesting feature, beyond the fact that it is the horoscope of a famous pop star.
The first thing you notice about this horoscope is that all of the planets are grouped in one small area of the circle. This is called a “Bundle” formation, a designation invented by Marc Edmund Jones many years ago. In Katy Perry’s chart the “Bundle” is particularly tight, with everything (except the North Node of the Moon, which is not a planet) tucked into an area only slightly larger than 60 degrees.
It’s a rough time for folks born with the Sun in Aries. Witness the downfall of Amanda Bynes and now Alex Baldwin. (Click here to see Baldwin’s horoscope charted for noon.) Both Bynes and Baldwin have gotten into trouble with their rants on Twitter. Baldwin has even vowed not the use Twitter again, a smart move considering his history.
If ever there was a medium that was designed to bedevil Aries people, it is certainly Twitter. People born with the Sun in Aries (or sometimes Mercury in Aries or Aries Rising) are prone to quick responses, particularly when they are angry or irritated. The full implication of what they’re saying often doesn’t dawn on them until after the words had leapt out of their mouths.
When the Aries person saying these things is sitting with friends and family, people who understand him or her, there’s usually no harm done. But when those thoughtless words can be punched into a cell phone and sent bouncing off satellites all around the world, it can mean big problems.
On July 4 GoodGollyAstrology turns three. (Feel free to applaud!) We’ve worked hard though the past year to keep fresh material coming your way and to present astrology in a manner that is fun and informative. We’ve profiled a lot of celebrities during this year, like Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift. We’ve delved into history with a series on famous concubines. We’ve touched on politics, particularly during the presidential election. We’ve looked at pop culture with a series of articles on the characters from the TV series, Game of Thrones. And we’ve also talked about some basic astrology, as in our articles on the 7th House and the ongoing Uranus square to Pluto.
So what’s in store in Year Three of GoodGollyAstrology? More of the same, of course; along with a few surprises. We are currently brainstorming, trying to come up with new ways to make astrology more engaging and to provide material that will be of interest both to the novice and to the person who already has a working knowledge of the subject. But, you know, we could use a little help.
Thinking back on what you’ve read on the pages of GoodGollyAstrology over the past year, what have you liked the best? While we’re at it, what have you disliked? What do you want to see more of and what would you be happy to see less of? Who are the celebrities that you’d like to read about on the website? Are there people who are not currently included in our Mar/Venus Playbook’s “Who’s Who” that you’d like to see included? Are there astrological subjects that you’d like to see discussed in more depth?
Paula Deen Gets a Big Serving of Saturn (Hold the Butter)
In January, 2012, Paula Deen announced that she had been diagnosed with type two diabetes. No surprise there. The woman had been pushing (and supposedly eating) fat filled butter soaked fried foods for decades. So much for “good ol’” Southern cooking.
Of course, at the time she made her announcement, Deen had already signed a contract with a big drug company to endorse their diabetes medicine. It seemed like the food empire that Paula Deen had built over the years, with television appearances, cook books, restaurants and multiple product endorsements would continue to purr down the highway of prosperity.
