I read Orson Scott Card’s science fiction novel, Ender’s Game several years ago and enjoyed it. It’s about a boy in the future whose method of dealing with bullies (he kills them) gets him recruited into an elite interstellar fighting force. The book was very popular and a movie based on the book is to be released in November.
The author or Ender’s Game, however, is not so popular, at least not in certain circles. Card has been a vocal critic of homosexuality, what he calls the “gay agenda” and gay marriage. He once wrote that he would gladly take part in the violent overthrow of any government that approved of gay marriage. His remarks have caused some groups to threaten a boycott of the movie.
We don’t have a time of birth for Orson Scott Card, but a look at his noon chart is a little surprising. (Click here to see his horoscope charted for noon.) He has the Sun, Mercury and Venus all in Virgo. Virgo people are generally realists with acutely observant and flexible minds. They are not usually prone to doctrinaire thinking. However, there is one aspect in Card’s chart that might explain his behavior. His Mercury is in a close conjunction with the South Node of the Moon.
Say that five times real fast. My curiosity was aroused recently by rumors that Willie Robertson, one of the “stars” of the reality series, Duck Dynasty, was being courted by the Republican Party for a run for Congress. Robertson, who is the C.E.O. of the family business (they make duck calls) that is at the center of the show quickly put the brakes on those rumors, but I though it still might be interesting to see what is going on in his horoscope.
Of course, we don’t know Willie Robertson’s birth time, but a chart done for noon reveals some interesting trends. (Click here to see the noon chart.) Robertson is a Taurus by Sun sign. If he was born earlier in the day he has the Moon in Leo. If he was born in the evening, his Moon is in Virgo.
Since the Duck Dynasty program premiered on A&E in March, 2012, Pluto has been conjunct Robertson’s Jupiter. More recently, Uranus has squared the same degree. If you’re going to have Pluto and Uranus activating any planet in your horoscope, Jupiter is the best bet. Depending on how Jupiter is placed in the chart, a conjunction with transiting Pluto can expand boundaries and deepen one’s intellectual and spiritual life. Uranus square natal Jupiter is more jolting and intrusive, but it can bring sudden good fortune.
Lindsay Lohan might seem like just another spoilt actress who can’t keep her personal life in order, but we can also see her as the poster child of the ongoing square between transiting Uranus and Pluto. We don’t have a time of birth for Lohan, (click here to see a chart done for noon) but we do know that her Sun is at ten degrees of Cancer. Pluto has been moving opposite that degree and Uranus has been close to a 90 degree square to it since early 2012. What this aspect is doing to our society as a whole is, in many ways, mirrored is Lohan’s troubled life.
Pluto is the planet of transformation. There is nothing cheap or easy about a Pluto transformation. It’s a down to the bones, life altering, merciless overhaul of all your priorities and desires. Uranus is the planet of change, not “fun” change but change that is jolting, unpredictable and often painful.
On a societal level, particularly with reference to the U.S., the Uranus to Pluto square began shortly after the 2008 economic crash. It accompanied the rise of the Tea Party and a widening of the gulf between conservatives and liberals. During this transit we’ve seen conservatives in many states pass laws aimed at restricting immigration and abortions. At the same time, other states have been passing laws legalizing gay marriage.
Dynasties are not supposed to exist in a democracy but in an age when name recognition and celebrity matter more than policy, they are hard to avoid. We’ve had the Kennedys and the Bushes and now, with Hillary apparently gearing up for another run at the presidential nomination, the possibility of a Clinton dynasty. An added wrinkle to this phenomenon is the increased public profile of Bill and Hillary’s daughter, Chelsea Clinton.
During her youth the Clintons did a commendable job of keeping their daughter out of the spotlight, of allowing her as much privacy as was possible for a person with her linage. It is only recently that Chelsea has assumed a public role, first by campaigning for her mother in 2008 and then as a spokesperson for the Clinton Foundation. This has caused some to wonder about a future for Chelsea in politics. Let’s see what her horoscope has to say. (Click here to see the chart.)
The need for privacy is quite evident in this horoscope. Chelsea is a Sun sign Pisces with Scorpio on the Ascendant. Moreover she has Pluto in her 12th House in an all but exact opposition to her Venus. This is someone who is very sensitive to intrusions into her private life, particularly into matters involving relationships. Having seen the intense public scrutiny of their private affairs that her parents endured during the Clinton presidency; it would take a huge leap of faith for Chelsea put her privacy at risk.
