It is not often that I come across an astrology book that presents a concept that is new to me. That’s why I was both surprised and pleased when I picked up “Astrology by Moonlight” by Tara Aal and Aswin Subramanyan. This book takes the phases of the Moon, which are based on the relationship between the Sun and the Moon (as seen from Earth) and extends them to all the planets. In other words, the distance between the Moon and Venus is described in terms that are more often applied to the distance between the Sun and Moon, such as New, Crescent, First Quarter and so on.
Uranus didn’t let us down. It was a significant player in the New Moon chart of Nov. 4 (click here to see the article and the chart) and it provided us with some striking events. The most prominent of these was the passage of the infrastructure bill.. On top of this we had the arrest of Steve Bannon. The idea that Congress would charge someone who so obviously holds that body in contempt with Contempt of Congress might not seem all that surprising, but in today’s political climate it is actually a very Uranian disruption of the status quo.
I had also said that the New Moon chart was not good for people in authority. Even though the infrastructure bill is historic in its scope, polls indicate that the American people are not impressed. It did nothing to improve Joe Biden’s dismal approval ratings and Democrats seem to be having trouble convincing their constituents of the bills importance.
The focus on the Seventh House in that New Moon chart indicated the possibility with a conflict with a foreign government. That didn’t happen, though concerns about China’s military buildup and Iran stockpiling enriched uranium are rumbling in the background. Also, I was fearful that the strength of Mars in that chart would bring us an outburst of violence. Though we certainly had some of that (after all, this is America), it was not at a remarkable level.
One of the drawbacks of being an astrologer is what I call the “Doomsday Syndrome.” We see a particular configuration of the planets and automatically think of all the worst ways in which that aspect could manifest. We walk around with our jaw clenched expecting something absolutely awful to happen, which is very close to “wanting” something absolutely awful to happen, and that’s not a healthy outlook for anyone.
There are some aspects coming up in the week to come that could easily bring on the Domesday Syndrome. Transiting Mars will be opposed to transiting Uranus pretty much all week. Then the transiting Moon will be conjunct Uranus and opposed to Mars on Nov. 17 at around 10PM (EST). This is an explosive combination and it could be particularly troublesome for anyone with a personal planet (Mars, Venus, Mercury, the Sun or the Moon) at 12 degrees of a Fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.) People with their Ascendant or Midheaven at 12 degrees of a Fixed sign are also in the crosshairs of this aspect.
Transits often come at us in bunches and sometime what one transit promises is contradicted by the meaning of another. To put that is biblical terms, “What one planet giveth, another taketh away.” A good example of how this works can be seen in what happened to President Joe Biden last week when he was being hit by transits from both Uranus and Neptune. (Click on Joe Biden to see his horoscope.)
Uranus can be cranky. You never really know if a Uranus transit is going to leave you jumping for joy or hobbling around in a cast. However, Uranus transits do often bring us important breakthroughs, breakthroughs that allow us to transcend obstacles and shatter expectations. The passage of the infrastructure bill represented one of those Uranian breakthroughs for Joe Biden.
