The stock market is a capricious beast, skittish as a fawn in some circumstances and in others seemingly oblivious to the most glaring signs of danger. It proceeds at its own irrational pace, following whims and sudden burst of sentiment up and down Dow Jones Average. During the past several years that progress has mostly been in an upward direction. Through two changes in administrations, the COVID pandemic and various economic troubles the stock market has continued to rise, setting records and generating huge profits for a select coterie of investors.
Throughout this period we’ve heard various experts predict an end to this phenomenal “bull” market. So far, they’ve all been wrong. However, they are right about one thing. No bull market goes on forever. They all stumble at some point. And, sometimes, those stumbles turn into disastrous crashes that drag down the entire world economy. This is what happened in 1929 and in 2008. There are astrologers who feel that it is bound to happen again this year during the U.S. Pluto Return.
It is possible to see the conjunction of transiting Pluto to its natal place in the horoscope of the United States as really beginning on Jan. 6, 2021. What supports that notion is the similarity between what happened on that day to what happened in capitol of Italy in 1922. That’s when an army of angry fascist marched on Rome and forced the elected Prime Minister to step aside and hand over the reigns of power to the definitely unelected head of the Fascist Party, Benito Mussolini.
This event was quickly followed by the rise of right-wing totalitarian regimes in Germany and Spain and a left-wing totalitarian in Russia. It was also followed, in 1930, by the discovery of Pluto. This is why, when we think of Pluto one of the things we think of is power, particularly absolute, governmental power in the hands of a single individual. In other words, we think of fascism.
It should be noted that during the 1920s there were intelligent, well-meaning people who thought fascism was the wave of the future. They saw liberal democracies as unstable and ineffective. To these people the rise of a strong leader who would shut down all the bickering and the politics and just do what was right for the country represented salvation. And to the astrologers who felt this way, and there were some who did, the discovery of Pluto opened the way to a bright new age.
I had predicted that this past lunation period would be active and I wasn’t wrong. However, where I thought the movement would involve health or technological issues, it was primarily on the international front and brought us the imposing shadow of Vladimir Putin and war.
Where I had felt that the square between Uranus and Mercury in the Full Chart of Jan. 17 indicated some sort of cyber-attack, (click here to see the article and the chart) it actually manifested in an international mind-game, with Putin and the Ukraine debating who was threatening whom. Since Uranus in that chart was trine Venus as well, I also forecast some good news. We might assume that this is the growing expectation that, after the Omicron variant runs its course, we’ll finally be free of the pandemic. Of course, promises coming from Uranus have a way of turning into nasty tricks.
One bit of good news, at least for liberals, with the announcement that Supreme Court Justice Breyer is retiring. This gives President Biden a chance to assert his power in a positive way. However, anyone who expects Mitch McConnell to let a Democratic president to appoint a Supreme Court Justice without throwing to a few wrenches into the works is dreaming.
It’s always difficult to write about Vladimir Putin. Though we have a chart with a time of birth provided by his office (click here to see the chart), many people are dubious of its veracity. After all, Putin was a career KGB agent. He has essentially been trained never to tell the truth about himself. With this in mind, doubts about the time, place and even date of his birth cannot be lightly dismissed.
This is one reason why I haven’t written about the growing threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, now that the conjunction of Pluto to it natal place in the horoscope of the United States (the much talked-about and dreaded Pluto Return) has come within a degree, that situation has gained a new significance. Pluto aspects bring transformation and what could more transformative than a war between the NATO allies and the Russian Federation?
In the horoscope we have for Vladimir Putin transiting Uranus is currently opposite his natal Venus. This is an aspect that can generate mistrust. You don’t know what to expect from the people around you and that makes you nervous and apprehensive.. It is also an aspect that can spur extreme and reckless actions.
