The release of a new movie Hitchcock brings to mind a strange fact I came across when I was doing research for the Mars/Venus Playbook. It turns out that Alfred Hitchcock has one astrological placement in common with three other famous directors of motion pictures: Ingmar Bergman,Roman Polanski and Frederico Fellini. They all have Mars in Libra. To add to this confluence, noted playwrights and theater directors George Bernard Shaw and George Kaufman also have Mars in Libra.
What is it about Mars in Libra that links all of these esteemed artists? With Mars in Libra, the mind and abstract concepts of love, beauty and partnership dominate the sex drive. The actual sex act may be important or unimportant, depending on the sign placement of Venus and the Sun, and on other factors, but sex will always be an attempt to break through the specific and the physical in order to better identify with an ideal.
A few weeks ago I published my first e-issue of Cosmic Comics. Despite my obvious limitations as a cartoonist (Jack Kirby I am not) I've decided to continue the series with a somewhat less that serious look at the foibles of each of the Sun signs. I'm starting with Sagittarius only because this is the first joke that came to me but I will hopefully get around all the signs before I'm finished. Justin Bieber Gets Tough
Justin Bieber scored multiple victories at last week’s American Music Awards ceremony. He won Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album. More importantly, he proved that he was more than just another teenage pretty boy and that his career has some staying power. But as triumphant as he might be feeling right now, there are some dark clouds looming in Bieber's immediate future.
In Bieber’s natal horoscope (click here to see the chart) we see the Sun and Venus close to what astrologers call the I.C., at the lower end of the axis that divides the horoscope in half. This is a powerful placement and is a clear indication of the fame and popularity that this young performer has achieved. Bieber also has Pluto on his Scorpio Ascendant, however, which shows us that he is a more serious and determined person than we might otherwise assume.
As more information comes forth about the Petraeus scandal attention is beginning to focus on the “other, other” woman involved in the affair: Jill Kelley. I thought it might be time to look at her chart.
Since I don’t have a time of birth, I’m using a horoscope charted for noon on her birth date. Wikipedia gives Beirut, Lebannon as her place of birth. Another source has New Jersey. I’m using Beirut but, for this cursory examination the place of birth is not crucial. (Click here to see this chart.)
Kelley is a Capricorn by Sun sign and she also has Mercury and Venus in that sign. From this we can see that she is a practical, goal-oriented person who rarely lets her emotions get the best of her. Her Sun forms a nice sextile with Jupiter which indicates that she is more outgoing than the typical Capricorn and has a grander self-image.
