An Astrological Civil Warironmanimage

Back in 2012, when the first Marvel' s Avengers movie came out I wrote a series of articles speculating on the Sun signs of that cast of superheroes. (Click on Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Thor and the Hulk to see those articles.) Now Marvel is getting ready to release “Captain American: Civil War” in which many of those characters, plus a bunch of new faces, battle one another over the question of submitting the Avengers to government control.

Being a Marvel comics fan from way back, I can’t resist the temptation to match those characters, and the Sun signs I’ve assigned them, against one another is an imaginary astrological battle. Here’s the first round.

Captain America vs. Iron Man

As far as I can see, Captain America is not only the quintessential  American hero, he is also the quintessential Sun sign Capricorn. He’s an old fashioned over-achiever who is deadly serious about his work and possesses a strong sense of right and wrong.

Tony Stark, on the other hand, is a mercurial Gemini. He’s always the smartest guy in the room, he’ quick-witted, brilliant and loves to tinker with machinery, particularly super-powered suits of armor. He also likes to talk, and talk and talk.

So how would a Capricornian super-soldier stack up against an armor-plated Gemini. Well you know that the Capricorn is going to go into the battle with a detailed plan of attack. He’s going know everything he can know about his enemy and be well prepared.

The Gemini, on the other hand, has the advantage of adaptability. In the heat of battle things happen that no one can plan for, and in such situations Gemini’s flexibility and mental quickness becomes a big plus.

I don’t know how this battle will be portrayed in the movie, but as far as the astrology is concerned, my money is on the Capricorn. Gemini seeks a quick victory, usually through the use of a brilliant and totally unexpected ploy, but Capricorn is in a battle to the end. No matter how many times a Capricorn gets knocked down, they always find a way to get back up, and every defeat is just a lesson to be used toward their ultimate victory.

That’s my first installment of this series. I plan to do more. In the meantime, what’s your take on a battle between a Capricorn and a Gemini? Super powers aside, which sign do you think would win.
