Saturn Nabs Jared Fogle
Things are not going well for Jared Fogle, the former spokesman for Subway sandwiches. First, in May, the man in charge of the foundation he sponsors was arrested for possessing illegal pornography. Then Fogle's home was searched and his computers were confiscated. And now sources are saying that he is expected to plead guilty to similar charges.
Subway has already cut all ties with Fogle, so the has been fired from the high-profile job that he has held for past 15 years. And, of course, if Fogle is convicted of the charges being made against him, his life may be headed for an even more disastrous turn.
What’s going on in Fogle’s horoscope? We don’t have a time of birth for him (click on Jared Fogle to see a chart done for noon on his birthday) but even with a partial horoscope it is evident that he is entering a crucial period in his life. In Jared’s natal chart, his Venus in Scorpio is square Saturn. In May, when the director of his foundation was arrested, transiting Saturn was making a square aspect to Fogle’s natal Saturn. Then it moved retrograde back to a point within a degree of his natal Venus where it went direct and started moving forward again. Saturn will square in natal Saturn one last time next month.
In my book “Saturn Cycles: Mapping the Changes in Your Life” I discuss the importance of these cyclic aspects between Saturn and its natal place. Basically, if we’ve worked hard and attended to our responsibilities, these passages are often quite rewarding. But if we have given into our weaknesses, if we have not lived up to our responsibilities, then we can only expect the worst out of Saturn.
The worst out of Saturn often comes as punishment for errors made in the past and a call to attone for past sins. This appears to be what Fogle is headed for. To make matters worse, in Fogle’s secondary progressed chart, his progressed Sun is square his natal Pluto, indicating that he is the grips of a power beyond his control.
Even if Fogle were to be found innocent of the charges against him, it is unlikely that he would be able to restore his job, his credibility or his reputation. One way of another, Saturn is telling Jared Fogle that he needs to go in a new direction, and it is quite possible that that new direction will be decided for him by a judge.
