Father Sun, Mother Moon (Part Eleven)

In my book, “Father Sun, Mother Moon: Astrology’s Dynamic Duo”, I describe each of the 144 possible combinations of the twelve Sun Signs and the twelve Moon Signs. In this series of articles I am presenting examples of some of these combinations.

Now it’s time to look at Aquarius; in particular an Aquarius Sun sign with a Sagittarius Moon Sign. Our example is Oprah Winfrey. (Click here to see Oprah Winfrey's horoscope.)

Of Aquarius as a Sun sign I say in “Father Sun, Mother Moon”,“Aquarians often seem happiest and most complete when they are devoting themselves to a cause or higher purpose. In these situations they take on the power of the ideal that they are advocating. There are many factors that can impede or stop a human being aiming for a particular goal, but stopping an idea, or an Aquarian illuminated by a grand idea, is a completely different matter.”

Oprah Winfrey became a national phenomenon by taking the staples of daytime talk shows, such as celebrity interviews and “women’s” issues, and raising them to a higher level. She has been able to connect these mundane subjects, and even some of her personal issues, with broader concepts. In this way, Winfrey has become the go-to authority on just about every aspect of living for much of the American public.

As I say in the book, “Aquarians are not afraid to be different.” When Winfrey started her talk show career, the field was dominated by white men. There seemed to be little room for a black, over-weight woman. And yet, Oprah was not deterred. In true Aquarian fashion, she not only achieved great success for herself, she opened up opportunities for others.

The combination of her broad-minded Aquarius Sun with an energetic Sagittarian Moon has been an important factor in Winfrey’s success. Of this combination I say, “You charm people with your forthright enthusiasm.” Aquarians can be rather cold and distant. Winfrey’s excitable and generous Sagittarian Moon counters this attribute and allows her to connect with all sorts of people.

In the book I also point out, “You have the courage to follow your lofty principles wherever they take you and the strength of will to withstand the consequences. This quality can make you an inspirational figure, a person who leads the way to a better life by living it.”

In the past few years, since her not so complete retirement, Oprah has focused more of her attention of spiritual issues. Through her “Super Soul Sunday” programs she has made her own search for meaning a model for a whole generation of people hungry for spiritual insights. In this way Oprah Winfrey has become an, “inspirational figure.”

“Father Sun, Mother Moon: Astrology’s Dynamic Duo” contains much more about both Sun sign Aquarius and the combination of the Sun in Aquarius with the Moon in Sagittarius; as well as all the other possible combinations of the Sun and Moon. Check out the ad on our front page for more information.
