Some Astrological Notes on Liam NeesonNeesonImage

The fact that Liam Neeson has been able to start a second career as an action star after previously establishing himself in heavy, dramatic roles (such as in Schindler’s List) is not surprising, from an astrological point of view. He is a Gemini by Sun sign, and Geminis are known for their capacity for adapting to new situations and reinventing themselves.

Nor is it surprising that the actor is only now speaking openly about the sudden death of his wife, Natasha Richardson, which occurred five years ago. Neeson has Mars in Scorpio. Passions run deep with people with Mars in Scorpio and they are often reluctant to express those feelings in words.

We do not have a complete horoscope for Neeson, but I thought it might still be interesting to go back and see what was going on in his partial chart on the day of his wife’s tragic accident. (Click here to see a chart done for noon on his birthday.)

Natasha Richardson died on March 18, 2009, two days after suffering a head injury while skiing. On that date there were several things going on with Neeson chart, particularly in his secondary progressed horoscope, but I want to focus on the square between transiting Saturn and Neeson’s natal Sun. Transiting Mercury was opposite Saturn and also in a square aspect with his natal Sun.

Saturn square the Sun typically indicates a blow to ones vitality, ego or sense of self. Neeson confessed that his first reaction to the accident was disbelief. He couldn’t understand how a simple “bump on the head” could take his wife away. Geminis are people who fix things. They often seem themselves as outsmarting fate. Faced with a circumstance that was beyond fixing, Neeson was forced to accept the limits of his Gemini intellect.

The most remarkable aspect in Neeson’s secondary progressed horoscope at that time was a nearly exact quincunx between his secondary progressed Mars and his natal Sun. This is an aspect of violence, but violence that impacts the person indirectly (because the aspect is a quincunx.) Taken together, these aspects certainly forebode a difficult period in the actor’s life. If we had a time of birth for Neeson, we might be able to see even more dire indications and show how these aspects related particularly to his spouse.
