The Grand Cross Cometh
On Sunday Mars moves within a degree of a square to Pluto and Jupiter and an opposition to Uranus. This is the dreaded Grand Cross that astrologers have been waxing eloquent about for so long. Though we’ve been feeling the influence of this cosmic event for some time, the next six or seven days should represent a culmination of the negative patterns set up by this aspect system.
A lot of astrologers have made some dire predictions with regard to the arrival of this Grand Cross, everything from worldwide financial collapse to cataclysmic earthquakes. I tend to focus on what this aspect system will mean to individual humans, particularly to people who have planets (or the Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Midheaven) around 12 degrees of a Cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn).
People with stuff at these degrees of the zodiac will be feeling intense pressure right now. The issues they are facing might not all be negative, but even pleasant and neutral decisions can produce stress when they come at us in bunches. These people are being pushed to make changes in their lives, and much will depend on how willing they are to accept these changes. Those who resist change during this period will be the ones who really suffer.
The same could be said for those people with planets on these significant degrees who are in situations that are unstable or potentially dangerous. People who are prone to take risks will feel a strong impetus to do so. Though change is inevitable with this aspect system, trouble and heartache are just as much a possibility, particularly if you enter into a situation without preparation or wisdom.
People without astrological bodies at 12 degrees of a Cardinal sign will also feel the tension and restlessness produced by the Grand Cross. For them it may be more of a sense that something awful is about to happen. Of course, if those astrologer predicting earthquakes and alien invasions are correct, then this foreboding will be well placed. But, in the meantime, it will most likely translate into sleepless nights and short tempers.
The aspect between these four planets, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto, will remain within a degree for about six or seven days. Then Mars will move on (in retrograde). Jupiter to will desert this aspect system in early May, leaving the Uranus square Pluto aspect that we have been dealing with for the last three years. Whether the period of this Grand Cross will represent a culmination of all the evil we’ve been expecting from this square, or just a continuation of the intolerance and localized violence we’ve already experiences remains to be seen. I tend to be optimistic, though an alien invasion would be kind of interesting.
