Astrology and the Death of a Terrorist
Few people mourned the passing of Tamerlan Tsarnaev. It was difficult even to find a cemetery willing to accept his corpse. Public outrage over an act of terrorism isn’t surprising or new but I can’t think of any dead terrorist or mass murderer (outside Osama Bin Laden) whose burial became such a contentious issue.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev was born with Mars in a 90 degree, square aspect to his Pluto. (Click here to see a horoscope for Tsarnaev charted for noon.) I’ve written about this aspect several times, calling it the “monster” aspect. Connections between Mars and Pluto are frequently found in the horoscopes of serial killers and in people who inspire hatred in at least a segment of the population. Sometimes this hatred is inspired deliberately, as in the case of Rush Limbaugh, and sometimes it is inspired by unsavory revelations about a person’s private life, as was the case with Woody Allen during his court battle with Mia Farrow.
Another manifestation of Mars square Pluto is a need to dominate and be in control, particularly in sexual relationships. Tsarnaev seems to have fit this profile. His relationship with his girlfriends and his wife seems to have been largely dictatorial and he was violent with at least one girlfriend. Tsarnaev excelled at boxing and this could have become a positive means of venting that Mars/Pluto energy, but he eventually gave up the sport.
At the time of the bombing transiting Saturn was retrograde, moving backwards (relative to the Earth) toward Tsarnaev’s natal Pluto. Saturn had already passed over his natal Pluto (and squared his natal Mars) in December, 2012. This transiting aspect obvious played a part in setting off the destructive potential of Mars square Pluto and in Tsarnaev’s violent death. The aspect only got closer after his death and during the controversy brought about by his burial.
Since we don’t have a birth time and a complete horoscope for Tamerlan Tsarnaev there is a limit to what can be said about his chart. All we know for sure is that he is another example of how “monstrous” a Mars Pluto square or opposition can be when its power is not recognized and used properly.
