Astrology and the Oscar Race: Part NIne

Though I don’t claim to be an expert when it comes to movies and generally only take a passing interest in who wins Academy Awards, I thought it might be interesting to look at the horoscopes of this year’s Oscar contenders for best actor and best actress.

Quvenzhane Wallis has already made Oscar history. At age nine, she is the youngster nominee for best actress ever. (Emmanuelle Riva is the oldest so we have quite a contrast in this year’s lineup.) Again, we do not have a time of day for Wallis and will be using a chart done for noon. (Click here to see the chart.)

The outstanding feature in this partial horoscope is the focus on the Sun. Wallis’ Sun is in Virgo sitting between Jupiter and Venus. Jupiter and Venus are traditionally the most benevolent of the planets and having the Sun conjunct both indicates extraordinary self-confidence and good fortune.

On the other side of the horoscope, opposite the Sun, we have Mars conjunct Uranus. The opposition between the Sun and these planets energizes Wallis’ Virgo personality. Uranus brings originality and flashes of brilliance. Mars brings an aggressive can-do attitude. Of course, the aspect is a stressful one so these qualities are not always going to work Quvenzhane’s favor.

The second outstanding feature is the crowd of stuff she has in Virgo. Along with the Sun, Venus and Jupiter, Wallis has the Moon and Mercury in that sign. This tells us that Quvenzhane is a down-to-earth little girl with a practical outlook on life. There is a core of humility in her nature and a respect for hard work that will help counter the arrogance and egotism that is likely with all those aspect to her Sun.

Wallis will need that Virgo practicality over the next couple of years because transiting Neptune will be passing over her natal Mars and opposite her Sun. This transit will bring a long period of disorientation and confusion related to her sense of self. We might assume that it will be the transition from being an honored movie star back to real life will cause this disorientation but, without a complete horoscope, we can’t be sure. All that can be said with confidence is that the next couple of years will be difficult for this child actress.

On Oscar night the Sun will be opposite her natal Venus and transiting Jupiter will be square that planet. She will certainly enjoy the glitz and glamour of the evening but, based on what can be seen in this partial horoscope, I don’t think these aspects will be enough to get her a statuette. If I’m wrong and it does, then this will only worsen the comedown that is likely when Neptune comes calling later in the year.
