Joe Biden in 2023
Let’s face it. Like every other U.S. president born with the Sun in the 12th House (Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush being two examples) Joe Biden is struggling. Much of his struggle has little to do with him. His chief problem has been inflation and the cause of that inflation reaches back to things that happened during previous administrations, in particular the pandemic and the Trump tax cut that reduced the federal income just as the pandemic was requiring more federal expenditures. But that’s the nature of the Sun in the 12th. Other people get the glory and all you get is the blame.
Will 2023 be any better for Joe Biden? Probably not. Along with the political obstacle of a Republican controlled House of Representatives intent on investigating anything and everything Joe Biden, but he’s will also facing some important astrological issues.
The first of these is the square to his natal Sun and Venus by transiting Saturn. (Click on Joe Biden to see his horoscope.) This will be a quick aspect. Saturn is moving fast during this period and the aspects will be within one degree for little more than two weeks. But given the scrutiny that the House will be devoting to his administration, that two week period could be momentous.
These Saturn aspects will dominate the month of February of 2023 and extend (if you allow a wider orb) into late January and early March. I think that the square to Venus by transiting Saturn (which is exact on Feb. 23) describes a loved one in a difficult position. Since Republicans in the House have made it clear that one of their chief objectives is to investigate the business dealings of Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, it doesn’t take a whole lot of imagination to see who that loved one might be. It doesn’t matter if the investigation reveals anything new or not. The goal is to embarrass the President and make Hunter Biden sweat.
The square by Saturn to Biden’s Sun (which will exact on Feb. 15) is a different situation. When Saturn aspect the Sun we are introduced to our limitations. Saturn defines boundaries and Saturn aspecting the Sun defines the boundaries our ego, our agency and our will. People react to these boundaries in different way. Some people see them as challenge. They work harder, accomplish more and do all they can to prove that these limitation do not apply them. For other people in different situations, these aspects bring a different point of view. These people are forced in some way to accept the boundaries that Saturn sets, to say, “This is as far as I go and that’s alright.”
Biden had thus far indicated that he plans to run for a second term in 2024 even though, by election day 2024, he will be nearing 82. This aspect indicates that something is likely to happen around February 2023 that will change his thinking on this issue. It might reaffirm his decision to run but it could also convince him that it is time to stand down.
However, we shouldn’t expect to see some dramatic change. Again, Biden’s Sun is in the 12th House and this is the sector of secrets and hidden things. It is very likely that whatever happens in February (or thereabouts) will of such a private and personal nature that only Joe Biden and those closest to him will be aware of what has changed. The public might not become aware of what happens with this square until later in 2023 or in 2024.
Along with these Saturn transits Joe Biden will also be dealing with Uranus moving opposite this natal Mercury, but I’m going to discuss that transit in a separate article. I will also be talking about Biden’s transits, along with a lot of other stuff, at the annual January forecast of the Astrological Society of Kentucky on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 at 7:00 PM EST.
