Joe Biden in 2022

I think that we can all agree that 2021 has not been a great year for President Joe Biden. His transformative “first 100 days” turned into a disappointing 12 months. In the end, only his infrastructure bill make it through congress and even it came out so truncated and twisted that the public couldn’t be sure what was in it. No one was ready to stand up and cheer when the President signed it into law.

I predicted this some time ago. Biden is the fourth U.S. president who was born with the Sun in the Twelfth House. (Click n Joe Biden to see the horoscope.) The other three were Ulysses Grant, Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush. Like all three of these past presidents, Biden has been burdened by problems he did not cause and, like them, his decisions have largely only compounded those problems.

The Twelfth House is the place where we meet the cost of fame, success and power. Dealing with that cost typically requires some sort of inward journey, a period of introspection and reassessment. Unfortunately, this is not an option for people who become President of the United States. They are stuck in the public sphere and, like of not, they have to work through these issues with everyone watching.

To make matter worse, Joe Biden entered 2021 facing a gauntlet of challenging aspects. The only saving grace for him in 2021 was that one of those aspects involved Uranus. Uranus aspects are quirky. Something they bring devastating changes and sometimes they bring remarkable instances of good fortune. During Biden’s last Uranus transits, in the autumn of 2021, his infrastructure bill became a reality. Considering the gridlock that exist in Washington these days, that was a perfectly Uranian disruption of the status quo.

Biden will have to endure another Uranus transit, Uranus opposite his natal Mars, in March and April of 2022. There’s no guarantee that Uranus will once again be kind to him. The only thing we can say for sure is that during this transit, President Biden will experience some sort of disruption of the status quo. It might make him smile. It might make him cry. Either way it will be shocking.

The other challenging aspect the Biden will be facing in 2022 is the square to his natal Mercury by transiting Saturn. He will have three of of these squares during the next year, in Apri., August and December. Saturn aspects are, thankfully, more predictable than Uranus aspects. Saturn square Mercury typically brings us either bad news or difficult decisions. The aspect can also manifest as criticism, though the criticism is often related of the bad news or the decisions that you’ve made.

The interesting thing about this aspect is that it is more or less the job description of President of the United States. If you happen to be President you’re going to get all the bad news from all over the planet. You’re going to be forced to make hard decisions and, no matter what you decide, chances are that half the people in this country are going to think that it was the wrong decision. In that sense, these squares might seem like just another day in the Oval Office.

Of course, there are other possibilities. The bad news that Biden gets could be of a more personal nature. When Donald Trump was hit by a square to his natal Mercury by transiting Saturn, the office of his lawyer and chief “fixer,” Michael Cohen, was raided by the F.B.I. Then it was announced that Cohen was cooperating with an investigation into Trump's financial dealings. This was bad news for President Trump but, in the end, it didn’t cause him that much trouble. These squares could cause a similar period of worry and concern for Joe Biden but they are not necessarily game-changers.

Even with these hard aspect hitting his chart in 2022, I’m predicting that Biden will have a better year in 2022. The reason for this is what is not happening in the President’s chart in 2022. For the past couple of years Biden has been dealing with Neptune moving back and forth across his IC, the point at the very bottom of the horoscope. This is one of the important angles of the chart. When Neptune hits one of these angles it is often difficult for a person to express themselves in clear, concise language. Neptune obscures our intentions and makes it difficult for a person to connect with other people and win their confidence.

Given that Biden already had some problems when it come to expressing himself clearly and concisely, this aspect has been particularly troublesome for him. In 2022 he will finally be saying goodbye to it, as Neptune moves away for his IC. This should allow the President to express himself with greater clarity in 2022 and make it easier for his messages to connect with the American people.

This doesn’t mean that Joe Biden is going to skate though 2022 without any problems. He still has to deal with that Uranus aspect and three hits of Saturn square in natal Mercury. Also, the horoscope of the United States is going to be impacted by some serious aspect in 2022, including the much anticipated and dreaded Pluto Return. (More about that later.) 2022 might be a better year for President Biden than 2021 on a personal level, but it’s still going to be one hell of a year.
