Following the Moon: Jan. 28, 2021

It looks like I got my wish. In my analysis of the New Moon chart for Jan. 13 (Click here to see the article and the chart) I expressed hope that the trine by Venus to Mars and Uranus would drain away some of the rage represented by the conjunction of those two planets. Apparently it did. Instead of Mars and Uranus blowing things up at Joe Biden’s Inauguration, we got the peaceful transfer of power promised by Pluto’s conjunction to the Sun and Moon in the New Moon chart.

Of course, the anger is still out there. We saw it mostly in the way the Republican Party has turned on its own during this lunation cycle. Republicans who don’t believe the fantasy of election fraud and who dare blame the storming of the Capitol on Donald Trump are being censured and ostracized by the hardcore Trumpites. There is even talk of Trump forming a third party.

This lingering rage is also evident in the Full Moon chart for Jan. 28. (Click on Full Moon to see the chart.) We have Mars and Uranus forming a T-square with the Sun and the Moon. Conflict is going to be a major factor during the next two weeks. It is obviously going to be evident during Trump’s second impeachment hearing, set to begin on Feb. 8. Though it looks like a conviction is highly unlikely, we can still expect some fiery rhetoric from both side.

This hearing is also likely to be a flashpoint for the angry mobs that Donald Trump has spent the last four years cultivating.  The protests that had been promised for the Inauguration fizzled. (Except in Portland, but that just seems to be a regular Thursday night in Portland.) We could see a resurgence of them during this trial and we can’t discount the possibility of violence.

However, I am once again hopeful that some positive features in this Full Moon chart will keep that Martian rage in check. This Sun in this chart is almost exactly conjunct Jupiter and Moon is opposed. I think that this, and the fact that Mars is not strong in Taurus, will limit any violent outbursts. In fact, Jupiter might bring us some good news, like a significant downturn in the number of COVID-19 infections.

I also like the fact that Venus is conjunct Pluto in this chart. I think this indicates positive news with regard to economic issues. Having the Moon, which is the ruler of the chart, is in the Second House also highlights the economy, though the aspects to the Moon (a square by Mars and an opposition by Jupiter) describe more of a mixed message.

Overall, this is a very dynamic chart, but the thing that concerns me the most is not all the hard aspects. It’s the emphasis in this horoscope on the Eighth House. The Eighth House is about buried emotion and deep, slow-burning anger that might not be directly expressed but never goes away. I think that there are a lot of people in this country who feel that way right now and, even if this lunation chart doesn’t support an acting out of that anger, the next one or the one after that could.
