Saturn Cycle and Ghislaine MaxwellMaxwell G Image

I wasn’t able to comment on the capture of Ghislaine Maxwell when it happened last week.  However, I was able to take a brief look at her chart. (Click on Ghislaine Maxwell to see her horoscope.) I saw that Maxwell had several transiting aspects that indicated that July 2nd would not be a good day for her. The most outstanding was the square by transiting Mars to her natal Sun. But it was what transiting Saturn was doing that really caught my attention.

Several years ago I wrote a book call “Saturn Cycles: Mapping Changes in Your Life.” The book describes how the aspects by transiting Saturn to its natal place and to the angles of the horoscope (the Ascendant, I.C., Descendant and M.C.) typically mark major events in our lives. In the book I used the lives of several celebrities to illustrate how this happens. If I were writing that book today, Ghislaine Maxwell could easily be one of those examples.

At the time of her arrest Saturn was moving retrograde back into Capricorn. On July 2 it was at 29Cap57. Maxwell’s natal Saturn is at 28Cap57, so transiting Saturn had just moved within a one degree range (or orb) of a conjunction to her natal Saturn. It is almost as if the feds took advise from an astrologer on the best time to nab her.

What these Saturn Cycle aspects bring us are tests: tests of our talents and abilities, test of our resilience and faith and tests of our character. Sometimes these tests come in the form of major events like a promotion at work, the birth of a child or a marriage. Other times, they are quieter, coming out of privately made decisions and choices that eventually have a big impact on the course our lives take.

Of course, tests come with consequences. You can either pass or fail. One to major themes of “Saturn Cycles” is how Saturn Cycle aspects can bring us rewards for our good decisions and our hard work. On the other hand, if we have not made good choices or put forth the necessary effort, we often find ourselves confronted with the cost of that bad behavior during these transits.

Maxwell began her relationship with Jeffrey Epstein during the 1990s. They were apparently romantically linked at one time but she mostly seems to have been the person who kept his life in order. According to various allegations, that included helping him lure and gain the trust of underage girls. When Epstein was charged with having sex with minor in Florida in 2006, transiting Saturn was crossing Maxwell’s I.C., another Saturn Cycle aspect. After his conviction in 2008, she apparently began to draw away from Epstein.

That was a good decision, but it wasn’t good enough. Saturn demanded more from Maxwell, and she was not prepared for that test. She has passed through two Saturn Cycle aspects since 2006. Saturn can be very patient. Now, with Saturn conjunct her natal Saturn, Maxwell is being called into account for her past behavior. She is also facing another test. How she will respond to that test will be interesting to watch.

Saturn will remain within a one degree orb of this conjunction through the month of July. Then it will hit Maxwell’s Saturn again, this time moving forward, in Nov. 2020. However, that is not the only Saturn Cycle aspect, Maxwell is facing. In 2021 Saturn will be crossing her natal Midheaven (of M.C.). That aspect will been in force, off-and-on, throughout next year. For Maxwell, this is going to be a long and difficult test.
