Saturn, Pluto and Us
We all see the tension that the conjunction between Saturn and Pluto is creating on the international and political scene. However, this influence of this conjunction also seeps down into the daily lives of just about everyone. This particularly true for people born with planets in their horoscope at around 22 degrees of Capricorn or any of the Cardinal signs.
For example, Justin Bieber recently announced that he has been infected with Lyme Disease. Bieber has Neptune at 22 degrees of Capricorn conjunct his Uranus at 24 degrees. Both are square his Moon at 24 degrees Libra. He made the announcement to counter rumors that his ill health was caused by lifestyle issues such as drug use.
Another example is Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. Her Ascendant is at 24 degrees of Cancer, so Saturn and Pluto are currently two degrees from her Descendant. The planets are also square her natal Pluto which is at 21 degrees of Libra. She and Prince Harry recently shocked the world (and his family) by announcing that they were stepping back from their royal duties and moving to Canada.
Prince Harry does not have anything near 22 degrees of a Cardinal sign, but his Sun is at 22 degrees of Virgo and trine the Saturn Pluto conjunction. Even so-called “easy” aspects by this duo can be disruptive, particularly if someone close to you is getting one of the hard aspects.
When I wrote about Julian Castro many months ago, I said that his bid for the Democratic nomination would likely run into trouble around this time because his Descendant is at 22 degrees of Capricorn. Of course, Castro dropped out of the race a couple of weeks ago as both Saturn and Pluto were within a degree of that angle.
Castro isn’t the only contender who is suffering through this conjunction of Saturn and Pluto. A month or so ago Pete Buttigieg, who seemed ready to surge in the polls but questions about his fundraising have become a drag on his progress. He’s still I single digits in Iowa.
That brings us to Bernie Sanders, who has Venus at 22 degrees of Libra opposite Mars at 23 degrees of Aries. Both these planets are being hit by the Saturn Pluto conjunction but his candidacy is still going strong. Recently, he reported a big in fundraising numbers and he’s presently has a narrow lead over Joe Biden in the Iowa polls.
Will that good fortune last through the duration of this transit? Since we don’t have a complete horoscope for Sanders, it’s hard to say. He could have a positive aspect that we can’t see in a partial horoscope. However, if that’s case, it better be a really good one.
For the next few weeks, really until the end of January, we are all going to be dealing with the conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in one way or another. It may be just a feeling of unease or gloom or it may be some sort of personal setback. For others it may be an event or crisis of a more public nature. The good news, of course, it that the aspect will eventually pass. That is the great lesson that astrology teaches us: that the dark times don’t last forever. Change is the only constant.
