Mike Flynn Pleads Guilty
A strange thing happened today. I was doing research on the square that transiting Uranus is currently making to Mercury in the Sibley chart for the United States. I searched back through the past decades to see what had happened the last time Uranus squared the U.S. Mercury and discovered that it had happened in 1973 and 1974, during the Watergate trials. Then I noticed that today transiting Mars was sliding into an opposition transiting Uranus, thus forming a T-square to the Sibley Mercury. This is what we call a "trigger" aspect. I immediately ran to check the news, and you can guess what I saw.
The fact the Michael Flynn has become the latest person to fall in Robert Mueller’s investigation is not surprising. What is surprising is fact that he was charged with only one of the many offenses he could have been charged with. This indicates that he has struck a deal with Mueller’s team, and prosecutors don’t typically make deals with criminals unless the criminal in question has information to offer about a “bigger fish”. It’s the identity of the “bigger fish” that has everyone on the edge of their seats today.
I have to confess that I didn’t previously pay a whole lot of attention to this current square between Uranus and the Sibley Mercury because it the aspect doesn’t “complete”. That is to say that it never becomes exact. In the Sibliey chart (click here to see the horoscope) Mercury is at 24 degree 12 minutes of Cancer. Transiting Uranus is currently moving retrograde. It will stop at ad 24 degree 34 minutes of Aries and then begin a forward motion that will carry it into Taurus next year. It’s difficult to judge the efficacy of an aspect that doesn’t complete. That’s why I had kept this research on the back burner.
There is no question about what happened when Uranus first made a square to the Sibley chart Mercury. That was in May 2017, when Trump suddenly fired F.B.I. Director, Comey and Congress appointed a Special Prosecutor to investigate interference by Russia into the 2016 election. A Uranus-to-Mercury square in a mundane chart indicates disruption, a conflict of ideas and explosive talk. There was a lot of that going around in 2017 and, despite the fact that the aspect is not going to complete, there’s even more going on right now.
In 1973 the square between Uranus (then in Libra) and the Sibley Mercury came exact three times. The first time was in November, one month after the famous “Saturday Night Massacre” in which Richard Nixon fired people in the Dept. of Justice until he found a person willing to fire the Special Prosecutor in the Watergate investigation. The second time was in July, 1974,when the Supreme Court ruled that Nixon had to release tapes of his conversations in the Oval Office. And the third time came in Sept. 1974, one month after Nixon announce his resignation.
What’s happening this time is somewhat different and, personally, I don’t think it is going to end with the resignation of Trump. (See my article, Can Mueller Derail the Trump Train?) However, the names “Jared Kushner” and “Donald Trump Jr.” seem to be popping up a lot. As I said, Uranus is currently moving retrograde. It stations (stops) on Jan. 2, 2018 and then slowly begins to proceed in its “direct” motion. It will be within a degree of the Sibley Mercury until the middle of February, so this is likely only the beginning of a long and bumpy ride.
