It should come as no surprise that a New Moon chart that had both the Sun and Moon in the first degree of the first sign, conjunct the Midheaven and square Mars would produce an event of unique historical importance. That was the New Moon chart for Mar. 21 (click here to see the article and the chart) and the indictment of former President Donald Trump. A figure of authority (the Sun on the Midheaven) is definitely under attack (Mars).
I had felt that the square to by Mars to the Sun and Moon indicated that there would be a violent reaction to this event. However, so far, the reaction by Trump’s supporters has been relatively mild. The violence came earlier in the lunation period with the school shooting in Nashville. I had said that, since Mars was in the Twelfth House, the source of the violence could “come out of the shadows.” The perpetrator of that crime turned out to be very much a shadowy figure.
The protests the erupted after that shooting and the reaction of the Tennessee legislature to those protests is a very different matter. I had thought that the semi-sextile between Jupiter and Uranus (both in the Tenth House in the house I used for that chart) would be good news for some people in positions of power. Instead it gave us a vengeful and rather petty abuse power by Republican legislators in Tennessee.
In my book, “The Lunar Nodes,” I look at aspects to the Nodes of the Moon in the natal horoscope made by planets in the natal horoscope. I describe the planets making these aspects to the Lunar Nodes as representing archetypes that come into our lives through their connection to the Nodes. For example, the Sun aspecting the Lunar Nodes conveys the power of leadership and heroism. Then we have Venus. In the case of Venus aspecting the Lunar Nodes that archetypical figure in the Divine Feminine.
What is the Divine Feminine? For the person with Venus aspecting the Nodes, particularly if that person is a woman, it is a source of power. That power is of a very different sort than what we typically comes to us through the Sun. It is a source of power that has more to do with “we” than “me,” a source of power that is more about negotiation than domination and cooperation than conquest. For a society used to seeing power as based on ego and “winning,” it can be a strange and disruptive force.
Even though the placement of the Sun and Moon in the Full Moon chart for Mar. 7 indicated quietude, I had predicted a fair amount of noise. (Click here to see the article and the chart.) We got that with a couple of bank failures early in the lunation period. That had a lot of people worried about a worldwide economic crisis but, at present anyway, those concerns seem to be waning.
The other big news was the announcement that ex-President Donald Trump was about to be arrested. That hasn’t happened yet and, if it does happen, it will be at the beginning of the next lunation period. With that in mind, it comes as not surprise that that New Moon chart for Mar. 21 is chock full of drama. (Click on New Moon to see the chart.)
I had hoped that the strong placement of Venus in the New Moon chart for Feb. 20 (click here to see the article and the chart) would give us a lunation period relatively free of gun violence. However, it was Mars, that was also strong in the chart, that won out. Instead of alleviating, the pace of shootings seemed to pick up during the past two weeks.
This past lunation period started off with Joe Biden’s surprise visit to Ukraine. Of course, this was more a piece of theater than substance. Other things that happened during the past two weeks, like the continued finger-pointing over the train derailment in Ohio and conflicting theories about the origins of COVID 19, seemed to follow the same pattern. Biden did confirm that he plans to run again in 2024, but this had been assumed for some time.
In the Feb. 20 chart the Sun and Moon are in a Cadent house. This typically means that the events of the lunation period will have less effect, or that those effects will be delayed. The Full Moon chart for Mar. 7 also places the Sun and Moon in Cadent houses. (Click on Full Moon to see the chart.) It seems unlikely that we would have another two weeks of nothing of substance happening, but here we are.
